
Hanks in his next role - astronaut and commander Jim Lovell, in the docudrama Apollo 13 (1995) - He was reunited with Ron Howard. The film was generally praised by critics as were the performances of the entire group (which comprised Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris) as well as Kathleen Quinlan. The film also garnered nine Academy Award nominations, winning two. Hanks was the voice actor for Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's 1995 computer-animated film Toy Story (1995). His directorial debut came one year later with the film You Do! (1996) that chronicles the rise and fall of a 1960s pop group and also a part of a music producer. Richard Schickel of Time magazine said that his performance was "charming" and the majority of critics agreed that Hanks acting performance secured him a spot among the most popular romantic comedy stars of his generation.
